Sustainability & CSR - Walking our Talk
Even though we are a very small organization and our mission in itself is in sustainability, we - as any organization - need to look at the impact of our own operations and actions on our environment and our stakeholders.
At our creation in December 2010, we have defined a limited number of areas that we will focus on in our start phase. We have updated the priorities and reported on progress early January 2012.
Governance
Starting small, we chose our priorities to be where we have most impact and what is most relevant for our sector:
- Community: contribute to improving fair value distribution in value chains
- Fair operating practices: protect & respect intellectual property of software and consulting actors in our business
We periodically report our progress on above issues as well as on others; this page is upaded every year
We want to keep an open dialogue and allow anyone to give us feedback or raise an issue with regards to our performance in social responsibility. Your feedback is welcome, please contact us
Community Involvement & Development
Specifically in our business, we offer our technology for free to selected NGO's helping to establish inclusive business models and shared value. Contact us for more information.
Fair Operating Practices
As we're operating in a world of service, knowledge and IT solution delivery, we think the key are to start with is fair business with regards to Intellectual Property. We want to make sure we will be proactive and err on the wrong side in getting agreement from others if we're using knowledge that might be developed by others, also if there is no explicit claim on IP rights. We will also stimulate that behavior in our sphere of influence.
We did not have any issues with this in 2011; have clearly documented any IP issues in our projects.
Human rights & Labor Practices
We operate in a network of partners where often contractors are involved. In that context, we want to make sure there is respect for social law and no one is disadvantaged because of his or her status of independent contractor or small company.
We're a services company, but also in our world a lot of high value added services are delivered from emerging markets. We are working only with partners who respect ILO norms and will continue to only select partners who do so.
Environment - Footprint
The biggest impact of our activities are the energy consumption of our office and the transport of our team.
Mid 2011, we have invested in better insulation of our office building and have invested in both local and off-site photo-voltaic solar power that completely offsets the energy needs of our office space.
Since our start we drive low-emission cars. In 2011, reduced car travel with 50% and flights with 40%, each time in favor of better alternatives.
Consumer Issues
To our customers or anyone directly or indirectly involved with our services, we want to have an open door for any suggestions, feedback or issues you may have.
